So I recently learned some really cool neuro-linguistic-programming. The stuff is awesome. Basically it’s a therapy tool used to help clients/patients better control their states of mind. This is extremely important when we consider the fact that our state of mind sends vibrations and a frequency to the universe and thus attracts back that frequency to us. This is how all visualizing, meditating, hypnosis, and other mind techniques work.
So learning how to maintain a state of mind regardless of circumstances is obviously a very good trick to know. I recently read a helpful phrase that goes
“Happiness is not created as a result of certain conditions. Certain conditions are created as a result of happiness.
That is such an important statement that is bears repeating…
Happiness is not created as a result of certain conditions. Certain conditions are created as a result of happiness.
This statement holds true for every other state of being as well!
Love is not created as a result of certain conditions. Certain conditions are created as a result of love.
Abundance is not created as a result of certain conditions. Certain conditions are created as a result of abundance.
Substitute any state of being you can imagine or devise.
It will still hold true that Beingness precedes experience and produces it.

Such an awesome point and concept when you start to think about it. Especially when you study the quantum physics of the universe and the law of attraction it gets really exciting and makes perfect sense. So the basic starting technique that we can use with NLP is closing our eyes and going back to a memory of the state of mind that it is we want to feel and experience again.
Say for example we want to experience happiness. So go back to one of the happiest memories of your life and hold it in your mind. Perhaps you can think of a few, you want to pick one that was a memory of such amazing happiness that it was pure bliss and at that time in your life you couldn’t imagine being any happier. Now use as many senses as you can in recalling that memory, the more the better. Start with three while you practice and perfect the technique. Your mind needs training and since specific visualizing can be a very new idea to some of us it may take a little practice. So go into that memory as intensely and make it as real as possible. Feel it’s reality. See the things going on around you. Feel the feeling of joy rising within you. In your mind’s eye, be in your body and live out a few moments of the memory. Hear the sounds of what’s going on. Smell and taste it if applicable.
The idea is you really want to immerse yourself as deeply as possible into the sensation of the feeling that you’re choosing to experience. Enjoy this visualization for a minute or so and then slowly open your eyes and come out of it. Now open your eyes notice how you feel. If you do not still feel the joy and happiness of the memory or at least slightly better than before you started try again and really try to make it feel real to you as if you’re there and it’s happening now.
For me I found recalling memories with friends or family and sharing fun experiences together as the most powerful. Also, memories of laughter and a loving environment are great because it’s such an amazing feeling when we are truly laughing and free of all stress.
If you can’t think of a particular memory of the state of mind you’re trying to create then you can imagine one and it will work the same. Imagine what it would look like to you to be truly happy, what would it feel like, what would you move like, how would it smell, how would it perhaps taste, how would it sound? Envision yourself being the epitome of the state you’re desiring and fulling actualize it in your mind and the effect will still be amazing.
So now the point is… look at your state of mind, you’re happy or at least happier than before, or whatever it is you chose! Now the question is are you going to slip right back where you were or maintain that? That of course is the question of the ages and the true master will maintain this fluidity of love, compassion, confidence, happiness, joy, and bliss no matter the circumstances. This is an amazing technique and I’m excited to explore it more. Hope it helps someone out I know it blew my mind and has been working wonders for me.
